  • Welcome to Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club

     

    Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club (KCTC) is located in the village of Kilfeacle Co. Tipperary. Established in the 1980s as a community tennis club, it has grown to over 250 members across all ages drawing from the Tipperary region and beyond.

    The club has excellent facilities including three floodlit courts, a dedicated practice wall and a secure play area for small children. Internal leagues run for 25 weeks of the year which see up to 140 members partake each week. These leagues are graded and suitable for all players from beginners right up to grade 1/2 players. In addition, the club also runs a number of internal ladders to provide members with additional matchplay. The club has an online booking facility for easy reservation of courts.

    KCTC is a Munster Tennis and Tennis Ireland affiliated club and KCTC is represented across all Grades throughout Munster and all Ireland competitions including the Munster Tennis Summer Cup and Winter League.

    KCTC welcomes new members and offers introductory group lessons for adults beginning tennis. If you are considering joining KCTC in 2021, check out the Membership page for rates and further information.

    Robert Cummins Nominated to President of Munster Tennis

    Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club would like to congratulate club member Robert Cummins on his recent nomination to the role of President of Munster Tennis. Robert started his tennis journey here in Kilfeacle in the 1980s and has gone on to represent club, province and country. Over the last number of years, Robert has played a key role in the development of KCTC along with dozens of other tennis clubs nationally. His impact on and contribution to the wider tennis community from the grassroots level up is noteworthy. We wish Robert the best of luck in his new role over the next number of years.

    Upgrade to facilities at Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club

    Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club is delighted to announce that a series of upgrades to the club facilities will commence over the next few months based on funding from the Sports Capital Programme operated by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.  This round of upgrades to club facilities will see the installation of new Tiger Turf Advantage Pro court surfaces in the club, which will be supplied by Court Care Ireland in Cork. The club will also be installing ITF Class I (500 lux) LED lighting on all courts which will deliver the highest standard lighting for club members. This state-of-the-art new LED lighting will be supplied by Philips Lighting in Holland. The lighting design was completed by Signify in Dublin and installation will be completed by local business Tom Coughlan Electrical Services.     Thinking of joining KCTC in 2021? Membership for 2021 is now open for new members and new memberships run until the end of January 2022. All of our memberships are inclusive of Tennis Ireland affiliation fees (€14 per adult, €35 for family and €8 for junior membership).     League sheets for the KCTC September League are now available on the KCTC website. Thanks to all on the league committee for organising the groups which was no easy task with 140 entries this time round.     September 2020 League Entry

    The September 2020 KCTC league will start on the week of Monday 14th September 2020. Monday - Advanced, Tuesday - Advanced, Wednesday - Intermediate and Thursday - Beginners. Please note that if you entered the March 2020 league, you will automatically be entered into the September 2020 league for free on the same night you entered in March. If you entered the March league but you do not wish to partake in the September league, please notify the league committee by texting the club phone or emailing info@kilfeacletennis.ie. Entries can be made online up to Saturday 5th September at https://kilfeacletennis.ie/kctc-payments-page/ or alternatively can be paid at the club at the next social tennis night on Saturday 5th. Entry fee is €15.

    Junior Tennis Coaching September 2020

    KCTC kids coaching is resuming on the 1st week of September for 7 weeks. Junior - 1st class & 2/3rd class on Wednesdays and 4th/5th/6th Class on Thursdays. Due to COVID restrictions, all groups are limited to 12 participants in each session. Two coaches (male and female) will be present at all sessions so each child gets a very good level of instruction for the hour. Cost of the 7 weeks of coaching is €60.     The GVTC is Back

    The Golden Vale Tennis Challenge is back after the break since March. As agreed in March, all ladder rankings were frozen. As of Saturday 27th June, challenges that were in place in March have been reinstated so other challenges can now be issued for matches starting on Monday 29th June.   The last date to issue challenges will be Sunday 12th July 2020 with final results entered by Thursday 23rd July 2020.   Finals will take place on Sunday 26th July and will be hosted by Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club.   Ladder finalists will be decided based on the top two players or teams in each category as of 12pm on Friday 24th July 2020.     Phase 3 Covid-19 Guidelines

    Phase 3 regulations from Tennis Ireland which will be in place from Monday 29th of June are available at: https://www.tennisireland.ie/2020/06/25/tennis-ireland-phase-3-guidelines-for-republic-of-ireland/   Changes in Phase 3 include: Both singles play and doubles play will be permitted with people from outside of their household, as long as they remain 2 metres apart as much as possible. Visitors to the clubs (with green fees) are allowed allow again but contact tracing information for visitors must be provided when paying green fees. Internal club competitions can be delivered subject to appropriate protocols being implemented. Guidelines for running tournaments will be issued this week. Changing Rooms can reopen for players but only subject to appropriate cleaning and management protocols being in place.     KCTC 2020 Summer Ladders

    KCTC 2020 Summer Tennis Ladders New for the summer of 2020, KCTC has a series of tennis ladders to get you out playing while COVID-19 restrictions are in place. In total, there are 4 ladders to enter as follows: Men's Singles  Women's Singles Mixed Singles  Family Doubles - two players of which both members must be from the same household. Family teams can comprise of two adult members or alternatively one adult and one junior member from the same household. There are no restrictions on combinations of gender and a team may comprise of two male, two female or male and a female team member. Players can enter multiple ladders and players from the same household can also enter multiple teams with different household members.     Phase 2 Covid Guidelines

    The latest Phase 2 regulations from Tennis Ireland which will be in place from Monday 8th of June are available at: https://www.tennisireland.ie/2020/06/02/tennis-ireland-announces-phase-2-guidelines-for-clubs-players-and-coaches/ A number of the protocols in Phase 1 have been relaxed in this new phase of reopening. However, play is still restricted to singles only, the exception being for doubles partners from the same household.   Changes in Phase 2 include: Toilets can reopen for players, subject to appropriate cleaning protocols being in place and a one in / one out system to be in operation Members can travel up to 20km from their home in this phase Juniors / U18’s casual play only under supervision of an adult. However, clubs have discretion to remove this requirement for junior players aged 16 years and over if they so choose.     Update on KCTC Closure

    Dear Members. It is now just over a week since the committee took the decision to close all facilities here in Kilfeacle Community Tennis Club. While this decision may seem excessive to some, the committee believes this is the right decision for the well being of our members, their families and the wider community. All of us value the role that tennis plays in bringing young to old together every week to play the game we enjoy so much. However, as a community, we are facing an unprecedented public health crisis. This crisis will put a significant number of our members or members of their families that work in the HSE and other public service organisations on the frontline of this fight. All over the country, we are seeing clubs of sporting organisations like the GAA and Irish Rugby take this threat seriously.
