Tennis Ireland Affiliation
What is Tennis Ireland Affiliation and why is it included in my membership payment?
Tennis Ireland affiliation is where a club is represented by and adheres to guidelines set by a National Governing Body (NGB). In the case of tennis, the National Governing Body is Tennis Ireland.
What is a Tennis Ireland Affiliation fee?
An affiliation fee is a contribution collected from KCTC club members each year that is given directly to Tennis Ireland and does not go towards the running costs of the club. This is similar to registration fees that other sports also have when joining clubs. This affiliation fee ensures that KCTC and its members are represented by Tennis Ireland. At a practical level, affiliation fees help to fund Tennis Ireland to allow tennis to be represented and coordinated nationally. This includes the organisation of competitions, maintenance of player grading databases, ensuring that safeguarding for children is implemented in clubs, and developing guidelines for clubs such as those related to Covid-19. In addition, being affiliated with a National Governing Body for a sport is a requirement for most large grant programs such as the Sports Capital Programme.
